Railway song of the week

Something a bit different this week. Not really a song about railways but a medley of classical music played by a train. And because you deserve only the best, this is not any medley but the longest one played by a train as confirmed by Guinness World Records. Click on the picture and enjoy!



This week in history

On the 9th of August 1905, Heath Park Halt, in the town of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, opened to the public. The halt was the passenger terminus for the Nickey Line from Hemel Hempstead to Luton.

 

Do you have one?

You probably want a pair of microsnips for cutting thread by Expotools. The overlapping shear-like blades of this specially designed tool make it ideal for cutting thread without the risk of fraying. The lightweight spring-loaded tool is easy to use and makes for a useful addition to any modeller's toolbox.

Time to think about Christmas

If you are making your own buildings out of wood or card, it is sometimes difficult to represent walls or pavement. Vollmer does a range of embossed cardboard sheets which are a great help. There are about 15 in the HO/OO range which you can see by clicking here. Here is a small selection:

Woodland Scenics makes a full range of letters and numbers in various sizes, fonts and colours. They are dry rub transfers so very easy to apply. They are suitable not only for rolling stock but also for signs or any other form of markings. They also do stripes suitable for lining. Here are a few examples:

Send us an email or give us a call to check availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.

Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street. So no excuse not to come and visit us!
