Hello
Be advised that we have just added quite a few second hand good quality engines to our website. If you model in O gauge, you will find some wagons kits built and detailed by master modeller John Kennerley. Grab them while you can as they are not going to stay here long.
As usual, all the new items can be seen here: https://www.trainshop.co.uk/new-products
Don't forget to read our latest modelling tips and unboxing videos located at the bottom of the newsletter.

Railway song of the week
Modeller Steve send us a message a few days ago and suggested Iron Horse by country and folk artist Mean Mary. This great song, full of energy and banjo, won Mean Mary an Independent Music Awards. Surely, this means it is worth discovering? Click on the picture to watch the video.
This week in history
On March 7th 1966, the former 'Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway'
was closed to nearly all rail operations leaving behind only a few
spurs to access local industries from the surrounding mainlines.
Do you know this exists?
This is a coach light bar in cool white (modern type).
Each lighting strip is completely self contained with a built-in long life battery and five efficient LED lamps which realistically light the shortest Gresley to the latest Pendolinos!
There is no need for any switch because the strip incorporates a small sensor which detects when the train moves and turns on the lights automatically. The lights stay on whilst the train is in motion, then after it stops keeps the lights on for a few minutes before turning them off so that temporary stops at stations or signals leaves the coach lit.
Inspiration for your station
Stations are a big part of most modeller's layouts, there are big
ones, small ones, recreations of real ones and completely made up ones,
but whichever type of station you have created, there is always plenty
that you can do to develop it and help it become a centrepiece on your
layout. There are
many larger or more obvious features you can add to your station to make it more interesting and imposing such as: a
footbridge, canopy, station signs, platform lamps, fencing and benches. These
OO gauge items are all very worthy additions to a station, but what you may not
realise, is how many types and styles there are to choose from in model
form, so resist picking the first one that you see, it's always worth
researching ranges and offerings to find the one that will not only
'do', but that you love!
And
don't forget the lesser considered details, it is these that provide realism to your station such as
clocks and
baggage carts, many bigger stations have
platform signals,
underpasses instead of bridges and
car parks all just waiting to be modelled. But there is one thing all stations big and small have, and that is
people, they are the soul of every station (apart from the trains that is) so don't forget to model them!
