This week in history
On December 5th, 1987, the Downpatrick and County Down Heritage Railway (DCDR) opened its doors to the public. This railway operates on a gauge of 5 feet 3 inches (1600 mm) and is run entirely by volunteers. The DCDR uses track from the former Belfast and County Down Railway (BCDR), and has about 3 miles of track centered around the Downpatrick station. The railway offers passenger services using both steam and diesel engines, and also has a museum that showcases the history of the DCDR and other aspects of railway history in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Tool for thought
This week's tool for thought is the 6-piece Syringe Set by Expotools. The set comprises two 5-millilitre syringes with measuring marks embossed on their sides for ease of use. Also included are two pairs of interchangeable needles. These are supplied in 0.4 and 0.6mm sizes. As such this is an ideal tool for any modeller with a requirement for the specific measurement of fluids, such as thinners for paint mixes. When the syringe is used in combination with the supplied needles it is ideal for precision applications of adhesives such as PVA glue or Cyanoacrylate.
Unpainted figures
Figures can have a significant impact on any model railway layout. They bring the layout to life and help to draw the viewer's attention to the finer details. To truly personalise your layout and make it your own, consider
painting the figures yourself. This allows you to add your own touch and create figures that
perfectly match your vision for the layout.
Langley offers a wide range of
N gauge figures that are ready to be painted and added to your layout. Their figures are made from
high-quality white metal, which is both detailed and sturdy. This ensures that your figures will be both lifelike and durable, standing the test of time. Here is a selection of
N gauge figures from Langley, ready to be painted, taken from
their huge range which you can see here.
If you model in OO gauge, Langley offers a range of figures that are suitable for your scale. You can see the full range from Langley in OO gauge by clicking here.
