This week in history - On the 11th of February 1956 – Rock Island's GM Aerotrain (the Jet-Rocket) commenced operations between Chicago and Illinois.
If you have ever built a war-themed kit, whether it be a tank, armoured carrier or even some scale soldiers, you will know how difficult it can be matching the paint correctly to give an authentic look to the finished model. Fortunately, help is at hand, Vallejo has manufactured a range of acrylic paint sets that encompass colours relevant to various prototypes of WW1 and WW2 armoured vehicles and tanks. The range has colours suitable for vehicles from the majority of countries involved in both world wars as well as including sets for more generic models such as figures, wood and leather.
Our top tip is to always check if there is a paint set to suit your modelling needs as it will save you time and more importantly, money.
Another area of kit-building that can leave you in a sticky situation is the application of decals. All too often they can end up in a soggy folded mess on the end of your tweezers that even the best of us would struggle to rescue and successfully apply to a model. But there's a saying - the right tool for the right job - and this is especially true when applying transfers. Tools such as decal trays and pipettes will make light work of separating decals from their backing and with a little help from chemical products such as Micro Sol, Micro Set and Vallejo's decal fix, you can make your decals softer and adhere stronger especially when fixing to irregular shaped model parts. You can even restore old transfers by using Micro Film.
Send us an email or give us a call to check availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.
