Weathering, scenery and wagon loads - Modellings tips and answers - ExhibitionHello,

Don't forget to read our latest modelling tips located at the bottom to the bottom of the newsletter.

On Saturday 7th of December is the model railway show organised by the Sandown Railway Enthusiasts Club. As usual this takes place at the Lake Community Centre (Lion's Club) from 10am till 4pm. Postcode is PO36 9LA by car or bus number 2 or 8.

There will be several layouts in various scales ranging from OO to G and including TT, N and OO9. Quite a healthy mix! Refreshments and traders will be there too. So what better way to spend a day?

We have only a few copies left of the  Railway Modeller Extra 2020. This used to be called the Railway Modeller Annual and covers a review of the year, a behind the scene at Bachmann and other in depth articles. Click on the picture for more details.

You may already know about the bargains section on our website, where we highlight items that are getting discontinued and cleared. Please note we have only one or two of each and are not able to restock so let us introduce a few that may be of interest.

Weathering makes your layout comes alive. After all, nowhere is really clean and this is especially true when talking about locomotives. Dapol has produced two weathering kits to recreate the right look on the track. The diesel kit contains track oil, brake dust and track dirt while the steam kit contains a weathering solution, coal dust, brake dust and track ash. They are big sets that will cover any decent size layout. This is suitable for any scale.

Heki is a German manufacturer of high quality landscape items such as grass mats, hedges and flower tufts and strips. They look very natural and are hard wearing. These items are suitable for OO gauge.

You may remember Linka, the Scottish company that produced rubber moulds allowing to create OO gauge building with plaster. Well, the company does not exist any more but their tooling has been taken over by another company so you can once again create your own buildings. Here are few examples of the moulds:

10 Commandments specialises in plaster castings in OO and N gauge. They make loads suitable for most wagons as well as low relief buildings and a few lineside items. Here are a few examples in OO gauge:

And a few examples in N gauge:

German manufacturer Faller is known for their plastic buildings but also for their figures. They have combined both in two very nice dioramas in OO/HO. They both include figures and scenery items (rocks, flowers, benches ...). The first one depicts a loving couple cuddling under a pergola and the second one shows a visit to the zoo or the park including a peacock.
