Modellings tips and answers - modelling firefighters, fire trucks and fire stationsHello,

Don't forget to read our latest modelling tips located at the bottom to the bottom of the newsletter.

The Great Model Railway Challenge is back on air! Every Friday at 8pm on Channel 5 you get to see the work of modellers trying to complete great layouts complete with amazing animations in 3 days.

Peco has released a companion book to the show. It gives you in depth background on each of the team in series 2 as well as covering season 1. As a bonus, you also get to read about famous modellers and their layouts and get some tips on how to build a layout. Click on the picture for more details.

Earlier this month, the children's TV show hero Fireman Sam was axed as Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue mascot because he did not longer reflect today's fire department. Indeed, for almost 2 centuries, firefighting has evolved, but the but the truly modern vision of the profession dates back to 1947. This is why our models and figures, especially in OO scale, allow you to complete your layout with a fire service, whatever the era since 1950s.

It all starts with the people. Firefighters are available in various poses and outfits, already painted and ready to be added to your layout.

Obviously, firefighters could do nothing without their iconic fire station (the ones below are from Metcalfe and SuperQuick and made of card) and multiple accessories, such as fire buckets.

What is even more iconic than a fire station? It is a fire truck! Again, the choice is very large and will cover most eras.

If you want something a bit different, what about a Stobart fire appliance? They are used at the airports where Stobart Air operates from. Stobart Air operates services for Aer Lingus, Flybe and KLM on behalf of their owners.
