Modelling outside the station in card and plastic - Modelling tipsHello,

What's outside your OO scale station?

Since Victorian times there have been taxi ranks outside of our railway stations to convey passengers to their final destination. It is usually the first thing you see when exiting the railway station, followed by the car park and then the pub.
So why not add a taxi rank and car park with some asphalt or cobbled look card depending on which time period your layout is depicting?

Busch do a weathered asphalt on card which come in packs of two and have dimensions of 210x148m. These give a great weathered look.

Metcalfe have card sheets of asphalt these come in packs of eight and measure 280x200mm and would look good for either OO scale or N Gauge.

There is also a self-adhesive building card from Art printers in asphalt these come in packs of ten and are approximately 210x297mm (A4 size). They also produce a self-adhesive cobbled look building paper.

There was once a pub on most street corners in every town across the county, which are now in decline, but the pubs that have stood the test of time are the ones next to the railway station. Keep with tradition and add one to your layout!

If you like card kits then Metcalfe won't disappoint with their beautiful coaching style inn, just add glue to complete.

If you prefer plastic kits, then these kits from Wills and Dapol will not let you down. Both will require assembly, gluing and painting and ultimately give you the perfect look to your layout. Note the Wills kit is from their Craftsman Series and requires a bit more skills to complete. It also means you can customise it the way you want.
