Warning to all railway modellers! Do not fall into the trap of thinking that all wargaming scenery is just for putting onto the bases of wargaming figures. There is some really good wargaming scenery that would look equally as good on your layout, especially where you have different areas around your track. 

So why not stand out from every other layout and add some variety to your foliage by using tufts of grass and brightly coloured flowers? These would look good along fencing even between tracks or in back gardens, they are self-adhesive so just peel off and stick to the desired location, they come in 2,4,6 and 12mm. Alternatively, you can get the whole scenery package in a box, ideal for creating patches of waste ground behind your industrial buildings, or in fact any urban or rural scene would benefit from this great selection of basing materials.

Although these are designed for wargaming, these rocky outcrops could be used on your layout and would not look out of place, especially if you do not have the time to create your own. You can use them as they are or paint them and add vegetation for extra realism:
