Modelling tips and questions answered - Backscenes in OO and N gaugeHello,

Whether your layout is N Gauge or OO scale there is a backscene out there for you. Long gone are the days of hand painted back drops, there is a multitude of photo realistic backscenes to complete your layout.

Backscenes from ID Backscenes depict rolling hills, industrial, rural villages, coastal and even the Rockies for that USA layout. Most backscenes are available for both scales and to avoid repetitive scenery most come with the ability of adding further adjoining backscenes to create a truly panoramic landscape. For example, if you have ID207A, you can connect it seamlessly to ID207B which in turn will connect to ID207C and ID207D. This would give you 40 feet (12 meters) of back drop.

In OO gauge, they are available in two heights: the common 15in (38cm) and for smaller locations, 9in (22.5cm).

N gauge backscenes are all 9in tall. Here are a few of our favourites:

These are all easily glued to your backboard with wallpaper paste or Glue and View, a ready to use paste specially formulated not to leave any crease:

Alternatively go for the premium range which have all the same photo realistic images but come with a self-adhesive backing to make the job even easier. The premium range also comes with another benefit: they are printed on tear and water resistant plastic. Here are a few examples in OO gauge:
