We are frequently asked in the shop which is the best glue to use. This a very broad question and as many of you will know, there is a glue for every occasion.
So below are a few of our favourite glues and their best use.
Traditionally PVA glue has done the job for card building kits such as Metcalfe and SuperQuick but it does take time for the glue to go off. Roket card glue from Deluxe Materials is almost instant.
This is a very versatile glue it can be used for balsa wood, paper, card and some plastics. A little tip is to use it sparingly.
Deluxe Materials have several different superglues: Max, Rapid and Hot. All will bond plastic, wood, metal, card and rubber.
Roket Max is a slightly thicker glue and has a drying time of between 10 to 20 seconds which can be a lifetime when holding parts together however the advantage with this is you can actually fill joints with it, as the glue is more viscous. Roket Rapid has a drying time of 5-10 seconds and Roket Hot has a drying time of 1-5 seconds.
Even thicker is Cyano Glue Gel. This is good when offering up the parts to be glued as it will hold them in place momentarily due to the thickness of the glue. It is also very handy for filling any gaps that may have appeared in the joint especially when attaching arms to plastic figures. No one likes an unsightly arm joint:
If superglue does not work, no worries! Tricky Stick can be used to prime the surfaces that are to be glued together and will allow super glue to bond to it.
If you need a faster bond, Roket Blaster is the solution. This is a super glue activator: when sprayed in the glued joint it sets straight away.
Finally, if the glue goes where it should not (including your fingers), you can dissolve it with Glue Buster.
