Hello,

We have just posted a great picture on our Facebook page. It shows something totally unexpected to say the least and it does come with a question. Will you be able to you answer it?

This week we are delighted to have been appointed official retailer for Greystar Publications. They publish two high quality  magazines: Narrow Gauge and Industrial Railway Modelling Review, and Finescale Railway Modelling Review.

They are full colour magazines, produced to a very high standard and full of information for the finescale modeller. Additionally, Finescale Railway Modelling Review is co-edited by Tim Shackleton, the author of several books about scenery and weathering. When you read the articles, you do realise quickly people know what they are talking about! If you want to take your modelling to the next level, they are the magazines you need to read.

Metcalfe keeps on churning new releases. This time in N gauge, we have the brick versions of the kits released a couple of weeks ago: retaining wall, tapered wall and railway bridge. And in OO gauge, a couple of laser cut kits: a platform underpass and a wooden pavilion.

Still taking about OO gauge and still talking about laser cut kits, Peco has just released a wooden station. Based on the same plans as their stone and brick stations, it is a very nice looking model that will work great in a country setting.

Summer holidays are behind us, but that does not mean you cannot have a camping coach on your layout ! This is courtesy of Hornby and is available in OO gauge. We have also received quite a large selection of other coaches, so please have a look next time you are in the shop. There is probably the coach you have been waiting for!

Finally, a few items from Woodland Scenics that will work at any scale. First, we have received some ready rocks: they are the same ones you could make yourself using the rock moulds however these ones are already moulded and painted. Second, following several requests, we now stock larger packs of plaster cloth, up to 30sq ft roll! We also stock them in pre-cut sheets, easier to manage for smaller locations.

And we kept the best for last: shaper sheet. This extraordinary sheet is able to stand itself. Simply crumble it, crease it and shape it the way you want, cover it with some shaper sheet plaster and job done! No need for support in wood or newspapers. The mountain you see below supports itself.

Send us an email or give us a call to check availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.

Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street. And the car park in York Road is still free every Tuesday from 1pm so you can spend the afternoon with us. So no excuse not to come and visit us!

Upstairs Downstairs is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4.30pm, Sunday from 1pm till 4pm. We are closed only on Monday.
