Hello,

Saturday 2nd of June will see the annual model railway exhibition organised by the Sandown Railway Enthusiasts Club. As usual, this will take place at the Community Centre (Lion's Club) in Lake on the Isle of Wight, from 10am.

With several layouts from N gauge to G scale, it is well worth attending. Entry is only £3 and accompanied children get in free.

With the weather being quite warm and sunny, this is the perfect time to tackle smaller modelling projects that can be completed in a few hours over the course of several evenings. Here is a small suggestion list.

Please note that as usual all pictures are links to full details.

A OO gauge wagon can typically be built quickly and there are no better wagons that those from Cambrian Models. Sensibly priced, very well detailed and the range is large. Here are a few which we find especially interesting:

If you are looking for something even easier to build, what about a couple of armoured vehicles? The range from Armourfast is in 1/72 and is designed for the wargamer in mind. As such, each tank is very easy to put together however the level of details is still very high. The most impressive part: you get two tanks in each box so you can quickly build an outstanding display or get a younger modeller to learn a few things.

And if you do not feel like doing any modelling at all, what about reading about it? We have just received the June issue of the Modelling Guide to Railway Modelling. As always it is free for collection from the shop or you can add it to your online shopping basket on our website. Here is a quick summary of the content:

Send us an email or give us a call to check availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.

Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street and for as long as want on the Esplanade. So no excuse not to come and visit us!

Upstairs Downstairs is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4.30pm and Sunday 1pm till 4pm. We are closed only on Monday.
