Hello,
We would like to wish you a
Merry Christmas!
I understand we are a bit early, however it is
never too early to be fully prepared. So, without further ado, here are some suggestions to give a loved one what they deserve, to treat yourself or to give a strong hint to someone who is due to give you a present.
Please note, this is not restricted to Christmas and these ideas will work equally well for a
birthday, anniversary or any other excuse. All items mentioned here are
in stock and available for collection today. We are, as usual,
happy to post anything or put an item aside for you for a few days. Simply ask us.
First, for railway modellers in
N gauge or OO gauge, DCC offers the flexibility to drive the locomotive and not the track. That means you can have several engines on the same section of track running at different speeds (or not at all). For instance, engine A can be moving forward and at the same time you can do some shunting with engine B, using only one controller. DCC does not require a computer, simply a DCC controller and some DCC engines (most modern engines can easily be converted).
The ultimate DCC present is the Roco Z21 controller. This works wirelessly (no wire!) and
uses your smartphone or tablet to control the engines, signals, points, etc. Here are a few pictures:
In terms of engines, here are some suggestions in
N gauge: class 25 and class 55 in various liveries.
And some suggestions in
OO gauge: class T9 and a class B1.
What do you get the modeller you has already got everything? May I
suggest a box that weighs 9.5kgs (20lbs), is nearly a meter wide (1
yard!) and 300mm (a foot) tall. In the box, is a great kit of a
tank in
1/6 scale. Yes, 1/6. This is big, this is great, this is out of this
world and this is the ultimate present for any serious plastic modeller.
Here are some pictures:
On a smaller scale (1/400) but still impressive, what about the
Queen Mary 2? Once again, the box is the perfect size to impress a loved one. An additional bonus is that they will keep quiet for a few weeks!
Finally, if none of the above is suitable, have a look at the
9000 other items we have in the shop. And if you are unsure, you have two options:
either ask us or get a gift voucher. Gift vouchers are valid for a full year and
can be bought for any amount.
Send us an email or give us a call to check
availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As
usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will
order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the
manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most
suppliers.
Remember, you can park for free for
one hour on the High Street. And the car park in York Road is still free every Tuesday from 1pm so you can spend the afternoon with us. So no excuse not to come and visit us!
Upstairs Downstairs is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4.30pm, Sunday from 1pm till 4pm. We are closed only on Monday.
