Hello,
The big question this week on our Facebook page is what to do if you have more than one hippopotamus on your layout? Do you call them hippopotamuses or hippopotami? Or maybe you do not call them because you do not want them running towards you? Join this highly critical debate on our Facebook page!
1/72 is probably the most common scale in military kits. This is a great scale as it is large enough to get lots of details but small enough so you can still store the built kits on shelves. And obviously you can also use them in 20mm wargames. Italeri has released a range of great armour kits in that scale. Each box contains 2 kits and they are easy to build (only a few parts) while having the amount of details you expect from the Italian manufacturer. Here are a few examples:
Building your own is always more exciting than simply opening a box and putting the content on a layout. If you have no experience in building kits and are a bit worried about not being able to succeed, probably the best kits to get started are the coach kits from Dapol in OO gauge. They can be put together in a few minutes and require no painting.
Once you have mastered the Dapol kits, you can try your hand at the Ratio coach kits. Here are some examples of the Clerestory and Arc Roof coaches:
While coach kits are not available in N gauge, wagons kits are provided by Peco and Parkside. Here are a few directly taken from the Parkside range:
Send us an email or give us a call to check availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.
Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street. So no excuse not to come and visit us!
Upstairs Downstairs is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4.30pm and Sunday 1pm till 4pm. We are closed only on Monday.
