Hello,

Before we start, we would like to remind you that all images in this newsletter are links that you can click on, sending you to pages with more details on each item including full description and sometimes videos. If anything is still unclear, please do contact us.

Despite the fact that Summer never really materialised, Autumn is coming fast.

We think this is great news as the colours of trees and bushes are outstanding. Any layout or diorama based in Autumn will always look more colourful than one based in Spring.

You can easily get trees to help you get started. As they are trees there is no real scale: a tall tree in N gauge is a small one in OO or 28mm.

Making your own trees is even better as it means you can make them the way you want! Get some armatures (they can be bent to your required shapes) and foliage and scatter.

The same scatter can also be used for ground cover or you can use static grass, applied with a puffer bottle or an electric applicator for best result.

For sparse areas, to "plant" buildings or to go between the rails of a disused piece of track, use self adhesive tufts and strips.

To finish the scene, do not forget to add a backscene in the same colours. They exist in N and OO gauge:

In all cases to get the best results, make sure you look around you at the real thing. Photographs and other images can also help.

Send us an email or give us a call to check availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.

Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street and for as long as want on the Esplanade. So no excuse not to come and visit us!

Upstairs Downstairs is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4.30pm and Sunday 1pm till 4pm. We are closed only on Monday.
