Hello,

Before we start, we would like to remind you that all images in this newsletter are links that you can click on, sending you to pages with more details on each item including full description and sometimes videos. If anything is still unclear, please do contact us.

A gentleman has been visiting the shop to get a few pieces of plastic every few days for the past 3 months. Here is the (near finished) totally scratch-built result. With no previous modelling experience, it does prove anyone can do it! Click on the pictures to get taken to our Facebook page where you can see it in bigger size and leave comments.

You may not know German manufacturer Auhagen. They do a wide range of plastic kits suitable for OO gauge. When we say wide range we mean their catalogue is more than 300-page strong! As we understand most people have not heard of them, we have decided to help you try them. Auhagen has been kind enough to send us what they call "demo kits". They are small items, made to their usual standards, with pre-coloured plastic. They are easy to make and very useful on any layout.

As we want you to give them a try, we are offering them at only £1.50 each. There are four different items in the range so grab all four or select the ones that appeal the most to you! We will welcome your feedback on the kits and this offer.

The four kits are: a bike rack and bicycles, a set of two sheds with privy and water pump, a log cabin and wooden bridge and finally a bird spotting  hut (can also be used as a climbing frame for children).

Backscenes help create the atmosphere of your layout or diorama. They also hide the real world. They exist in a variety of styles from traditional paintings to photographic images and in several sizes. While there is no real scale to a picture, in N gauge you may prefer to have smaller images. However, this is your layout so it is your choice!

Please note several of our backscenes can be combined together to create a larger image. Simply look for the reference of the backscene and the letter of the set. For instance 207 A will connect seamlessly to 207 B which will connect as well to 207 C and so on.

We offer about 90 backscenes but please note our favourite is the overcast sky, suitable for most locations in the UK.

And a selection specifically designed for N gauge:

Space is an issue for most people so N gauge may be the solution. Japanese manufacturer Kato offers a starter set consisting on their easy connect track and a controller. Their track sits on plastic ballast and points are pre-wired with a motor. Simply connect the point to a switch and the switch to the side of the controller: no wiring, no soldering, no mess. The track is designed to take abuse and can be disconnected and reconnected as many times as you want: this means you do not have to have a permanent layout and can simply set everything in a few minutes on the kitchen table.

Send us an email or give us a call to check availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.

Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street and for as long as want on the Esplanade. So no excuse not to come and visit us!

Upstairs Downstairs is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4.30pm and Sunday 1pm till 4pm. We are closed only on Monday.
