Hello,
Garden railway is always fascinating. The larger scale gives opportunities to create outstanding models and allows to work with the correct materials: woodwork in G scale is a lot easier than in N gauge!
Hans from Cowes has been in touch with details of his garden railway and gave us permission to share with all of you. If you have something you want to share, be it a model, diorama, layout, plastic kit you detailed or even just a work in progress, get in touch!
Back to Hans beautiful work: find below a few pictures. The way the sun reflects on the buildings is one advantage of working outdoors. We strongly suggest you click on the images to be taken to our Facebook page where you will be able to see them in larger size. They are definitely worth it.
Scratch-building is often seen as the ultimate goal for modellers. Taking raw materials and a few plans and ending up with something like looks like the idea you had. Probably the easiest material to work with is plastic: it comes in various sizes, embossed designs and colours and can easily be cut and glued. You will be happy to know we now stock the extensive range from Slater's Plastikard, including 4mm scale (OO gauge) and 7mm scale (O gauge) with their various brick bonds. Here are a few examples. As usual click on the pictures for full details.
Send us an email or give us a call to check availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.
Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street. So no excuse not to come and visit us!
Upstairs Downstairs is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4.30pm, Sunday from 1pm till 4pm. We are closed only on Monday.
