Hello,
Please let us wish you all a Merry Christmas and we hope that with all the joy the day has given you so far, it has also brought you a few modelling projects!
We are closed today (Friday 25th) for obvious reasons and we shall also be closed on Saturday 26th because as it is boxing day, we will be playing with cardboard boxes, trying to make huge buildings out of them.
On Sunday we are closed as well, because "someone" is going to ask us to clean the mess we have made in the living room while building the 7ft Eiffel Tower out of the cardboard.
And on Monday, well, it is Monday and we are always closed on Mondays.
That means, we are open next on Tuesday 29th of December at the usual times (10am till 4.30pm). We will obviously be closed on New Year's Day.
You can still place orders on our website and send us emails. Everything will be dealt with when we return. You can also check our stock on the website and prepare your visit to the shop. Our Facebook page is also ready to provide you with ideas, inspiration and is a great platform to share your projects.
If you are still looking for the perfect present for a loved one - or yourself - please note that you are slightly late but we still do gift vouchers.
We have received numerous deliveries over the last few days, trying to make sure we have everything you will need over the next few weeks, as next deliveries will be from the 6th of January. Amongst the notable things we have received are:
- Lots of new engines from Hornby: LNER J15, West Country Class, BR J15, Limited Edition Flying Scotsman, Limited Edition Churchill Funeral Train, etc...
- More engines from Heljan: Metropolitan Bo-Bos in London transport red and wartime liveries, Class 17 "Clayton", Class 15, etc...
- And some new OO9 engines from Minitrains: 0-6-0 Porter, 0-4-4- Forney, 2-6-2 Baldwin
- Lots (and we mean "lots") of vehicles from Oxford: trucks, cars, Coca Cola lorries, etc...
- As well as quite a few old favourites: Busch scenic items, Heki hedges, Auhagen embossed plastic sheets and so much more, we do not have the space to list them all!
The above is just a very short sample of everything we have received lately, there is a lot more in all gauges. Please note most of the new items are not yet on the website. If you have time to visit us, you will see we have managed to increase our stock. We still have a few inches to go before we reach the ceiling though, meaning you can expect even more from us in 2016!
Finally, we have decided to stop doing dollshouse items so we can have more space for our core items (model railway, plastic kits and general modelling). This leads us to talk about two things:
- First, we are clearing our dollshouse stock. Everything dollshouse related is now reduced by 25%. This includes dosslhouses, figures, wallpaper, flooring, furniture, etc. If you are interested or know someone who has a dollshouse, please tell them to visit the shop over the next few days. Once this is gone, we are not getting more.
- Second, if you have ideas as to what range we should put in the space where the dollshouse items are, let us know. Be it a new range of paint, plastic kits, more engines, more plastic, more trees... All requests will be considered and now is the time for you to influence us!
Send us an email or give us a call to check availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.
Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street. So no excuse not to come and visit us!
Upstairs Downstairs is next open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4.30pm, Sunday from 1pm till 4pm. We are closed on Monday and on New Year's Day.
