Hello,

There has been quite a few announcements over the last 48 hours. First, Dapol is going to release new versions of its highly popular Terrier in O gauge, including one in Isle of Wight livery. Second, Bachmann is to release Classes 121 and 117 in several liveries including Network SouthEast. Full details are on our Facebook page. Obviously, if you are interested in any of these new models, let us know and we will get them for you.

Other subjects you will be able to see on our Facebook page: pictures of the Oxford Rail Wagons received a few days ago, a "behind the scenes" at Hornby, several inspirational layouts (including one combining 4 scales to create a sense of perspective) and a lot more! Have a look at out Facebook page and let us know what you think.

Painting can be a daunting experience however it is a modelling skill well worth mastering. There are quite a few easy to paint items to gain experience. Here is a selection in OO gauge: ducks (a bit of white, some grey on top and done!), goats, foxes and a children see-saw which could easily be motorised if you are so inclined. They are white-metal and may need a bit of cleaning to remove the flash before painting but once again, this is a very easy task. Click on any picture to get full details.

Still finding painting too hard? What about using a pen to weather the rails? Surely, this cannot be frightening! This comes in several colours : weathered ties, steel rail and rusty rail. Obviously this is suitable for all scales.

Finally, finding the right backscene in N gauge is not always easy as most backscenes tend to be overscale. Here is a small selection of specifically designed backscenes to use with N gauge as well as a few sky scenes, including our favourite: a typical British overcast sky! A lot more are available on the website or in our shop.

Send us an email or give us a call to check availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.

Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street. So no excuse not to come and visit us!

Upstairs Downstairs is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4.30pm, Sunday from 1pm till 4pm. We are closed only on Monday.
