Railway song of the week
"C’Mon ‘N Ride It (The Train)” is a single by American group Quad City DJ’s, released in 1996. The track is built around a sample from Barry White’s 1974 instrumental "Theme from Together Brothers” and is best known for its catchy hook and dance-oriented beat. It became the group’s most successful hit, reaching number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and earning widespread play in clubs and at sporting events. The song is associated with the Miami bass genre and was included on the group’s debut album, Get On Up and Dance.

All Aboard for the Isle of Wight!
Have you ever considered modelling the charming railways of the
Isle of Wight? Let's explore some delightful OO gauge models that can help you bring this unique island railway to life on your layout.
Let's start with some authentic rolling stock. Picture a train of weathered wagons trundling along the
island's tracks. You could include the
Vectis Cement No. 5 wagon in grey, perfect for transporting chalk from the Shide pit. Add variety with the brown 4-plank
Isle of Wight Railway wagon No. 45 and round out your goods train with the grey 5-plank
Isle of Wight Central wagon No. 220. Each of these
limited edition models comes with a removable coal load, allowing you to depict them loaded or empty as your scenario demands.
Of course, no Isle of Wight railway would be complete without passenger services. Hornby offers a delightful range of 4-wheel coaches that capture the essence of island travel in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. You could form a typical island train with a first-class coach, featuring four doors on each side and elegant teak-wood panelling. Add a third-class coach with five doors per side for your everyday travellers and don't forget the brake third to complete your formation. These coaches are compatible with Hornby's innovative Maglight system, allowing you to illuminate them without the need for track pickups.
To haul your Isle of Wight trains, you'll need some suitable motive power. The LSWR Adams O2 0-4-4T is just the ticket and EFE Rail offers two fantastic versions. For early period modelling, consider the W25 with open coal rails atop the bunker. If you're modelling a slightly later era, the W26 'Whitwell' with its enlarged bunker might be more appropriate. Both models offer impressive detail and smooth running, with provision for DCC sound if desired. Why not acquire both to showcase the evolution of these charming locomotives during their island service?
With these models, you're well on your way to creating a captivating
Isle of Wight railway in miniature.
