We never have too many wagons on a layout. Typical freight trains are quite long (in 2010, the Union Pacific moved 296 container cars using a consist of 9 locomotives) and while I appreciate most people do not have the space to accommodate more than 20 or 30 wagons, diversity is definitely a welcome bonus.

In order to help you, Bachmann has just released new sets of nicely weathered wagons in OO gauge (equivalent are available in N gauge). All wagons in each set have different running numbers and have been weathered differently. We are talking about more exciting techniques than simply a spray of grime. Have a look at some of them:

Still talking about the USA, apart from Coca Cola, one of their most famous exports is Mc Donald's. This is a sight that can be seen in most countries and has been around for a few decades in this country (the first British McDonald's opened in 1974). Several kits are available from Vollmer, both in N gauge and OO to feed people on your layout:

And to balance it all, let me finish with a British locomotive: the Hymek. The class 35 is well known and with more than 100 built, was quite a common scene in the late 60s-early 70s. You can now have it on your layout, provided you are in N gauge, thanks to Dapol.

Please note that we are accepting pre-orders for the OO version of the Hymek from Heljan (delivery in a few weeks).

Finally, nothing looks more like coal than the real thing. This is why we are now stocking "real coal" from Peco. It is available in several grades and will definitely improve the looks of your steam locomotives and coal yards!

As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.

Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street. And the car park in York Road is still free every Tuesday from 1pm so you can spend the afternoon with us. So no excuse not to come and visit us!
