Hello,

Railway Magazine Guide to Modelling is now available free from us, simply collect your copy from the shop. While free, this is a proper magazine with about 60 pages in full colour. This new publication covers most aspects of railway modelling and is especially suitable for people starting or coming back to the hobby. If you live on the Isle of Wight, you can simply collect it from our shop. If not, we will happily post it to you (postage charge applies). Click on the pictures below for full details.

Following last week's newsletter about glues (click here to read it if you have missed it), we have had several queries about removing glue from fingers that got in the way. The answer is to use Glue Buster. This will simply dissolve the glue and save you having to tell anyone about what happened!

Traditionally, ballasting has been done the following way: you put the ballast where you need it, you put some glue on it and you hope everything stays where it should be. Deluxe Materials have come up with another solution: a powder that you mix with the ballast before it is laid in the track. Once everything is in place you simply need to spray water to activate the adhesive. It is available as a starter set including all the tools you need or on its own.

Maintaining the track is a frustrating shore: the electric current goes from the controller to the engine through the track so it has to be perfect but using a track rubber is needed constantly to achieve the right result. Track Magic solves the issue by chemically removing the dirt and leaving behind a protective film. It can be used not only on track but also on wheels with the same results.

Finally, if you do any painting, you want to hear about the following two items. First is Brush Magic: this will remove any paint (even dried) from brushes. It will also remove glues and resins. Then you have the ultimate: Strip Magic. This will soften and remove paint from models in minutes. It is safe for use on plastic, metal and resin, meaning you can use it to remove paint from most models.

Send us an email or give us a call to check availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.

Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street. So no excuse not to come and visit us!

Upstairs Downstairs is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4.30pm, Sunday from 1pm till 4pm. We are closed only on Monday.
