There was no newsletter sent out last week, so this one is packed full of exciting things to make up for it!

Metcalfe has just released two new kits: one in N gauge and one in OO gauge. They are both the same, namely a set of two pillboxes from WWII: a square type 26 pillbox and a hexagonal type 22 pillbox. Cheap and easy to build, they will look good on most layouts to fill an empty corner.

Dapol is the specialist of small engines in N gauge: Terriers, Ivatts, Pannier tanks... They have just sent us a few of their latest Class 45xx. They are very good looking, work as well as you would expect from the Welsh manufacturer and the weathered version is stunning. Look at those pictures:

For any LNER collector, the A4 is probably the first locomotive they get. Any model railway collector is likely to also get one as this is the most famous engine in the world (if you disagree and think it is the Flying Scotsman, let us know). Of course, no collection would be complete without an A4 in a special livery. We are happy to present you the Silver Jubilee set comprising a LNER A4 in grey livery with 3 matching coaches:

We realised a few days ago that our range of Oxford diecast vehicles was starting to reach incredibly low levels, so we asked Oxford to send us a few boxes. They nicely did and we are back to our usual stock of over 850 different vehicles in OO and N gauge. Here are a few you may have missed:

Finally, as you know we specialise in model railways however we strongly believe in learning from other types of modellers (aircrafts, ships, military, ...) so we carry a range of plastic kits from Airfix, Revell, Italeri, Zvezda, Trumpeter, etc. We are happy to report we have just secured a limited supply of the perfect kit for the experienced modeller who wants to try something new: a 1:24 Spitfire. There is no point in us telling you why the Spitfire is iconic, so we won't however we can say a few words about the model.

This is a large kit (1:24 was a giveaway) but working in larger scales has its benefits: better details, lots more opportunities to paint everything and a bigger display at the end of a few weeks of work. The specific set we have comes complete with paints, brushes and glue. The recommended price is £59.90 but we twisted a few arms and are able to sell the kit for £35. If you want to try something different, if you have a friend who deserves the perfect present or if you know anyone who is looking, let us know.

As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.

Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street. And the car park in York Road is still free every Tuesday from 1pm so you can spend the afternoon with us. So no excuse not to come and visit us!
