Hornby sent us an email on Friday with a list of new items they have decided to withdraw from production. Please note the list is extensive and includes 21 models, including 5 TTS with sound engines. You can find the full list on our Facebook page. If you have pre-ordered one of these models, your order will be automatically cancelled. Please do let us know if you need an alternative.

Keeping the track clean is essential to get good connectivity. If connectivity is not there, your trains are going to jitter and be unreliable.
There are numerous tools to help you maintain the track in perfect condition. In this newsletter, we are going to focus on two manufacturers.
The first one is Dapol. The Welsh manufacturer is well known for its wagons and engines, however hidden in its catalogue, you can find a motorised track cleaner, available in OO gauge.
This is to put it bluntly, a set of motorised cleaning heads. This
has to be pulled by any engine you like, as the motor is dedicated to
the cleaning action. That being said, it is a great unit, which does a
very thorough job. If you have a sizeable layout, this is probably the
best choice, allowing you reach under tunnels and remote locations of your layout.
Use it with Dapol cleaning liquid and if required you can get extra cleaning pads and spare parts from us.
The second manufacturer is Woodland Scenics. They launched only four years ago the Tidy Track system which includes everything you need to maintain your track, in N gauge as well as OO gauge.
They offer a cleaning kit,
which contains a cleaning tool with a long (removable) arm, cleaning
pads, rescue pads, burnishing pads and cleaning fluid. Very easy to use
and very efficient. As an added bonus, if you have miles of track, this
will keep you fit! Click on any picture for full details, including videos of the tools in action.
Another item Woodland Scenics does is the "track monkeys". They are little brushes that you can hang on the axle of most wagon. They will collect dust and debris from the track and avoid nasty stuff getting inside your engines. Once again, they are available in OO gauge as well as N gauge.
