Hello,

There will be a scale model exhibition this Saturday (26th of July) from 10am till 4pm at the Sandown Methodist Church. You will see about 15 different exhibits from railway layouts to planes to figures to dollshouses to lots of other things. Entry is only £1 and children can get in free when accompanied. Definitely worth going to to get new ideas, learn new techniques and meet other modellers. The following pictures are stock pictures and not what you will see but they should put you in the mood!

Please note this Saturday is also Carnival day in Sandown. So when you have finished with the exhibition and once you have visited your favourite model shop, join in the fun of the Carnival. As daytime events are held in the Park, parking should not be an issue. You have no excuse!

Metcalfe has just released two new kits in N gauge: both are low relief terraced houses, either in stone or in brick. They are to the usual high standards from Metcalfe and are already in stock.

Drilling small holes is regularly needed: enlarge the hole in a mould that is not perfect, drill holes in view to make a window in a building, create a hole to fit a thread, etc... This is very easy to do provided you use the right tool.

For maximum control, nothing can beat an archimedian drill or a pin vice. They are designed to hold very small bits (0.1mm to 1.6mm) and as they are manual you can decide how fast you need to go. Here are a few pictures of what we are talking about.

Send us an email or give us a call to check availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.

Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street. And the car park in York Road is still free every Tuesday from 1pm so you can spend the afternoon with us. So no excuse not to come and visit us!

Upstairs Downstairs is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4.30pm, Sunday from 1pm till 4pm. We are closed only on Monday.
