Hello,

Following several suggestions from customers, we have made some improvements to our website, in order to simplify browsing and improve compatibility with smaller screens (mobile, iPad...). As always, please do contact us if you experience an issue or if you think something could be better. In short, if you do not like something or if something is missing on our website, let us know!

Another aspect of the work we have been doing on the website is we have started adding more locomotives. It is not we did not want to have them on the website, however from our point of view this is one item best seen in the shop, where you can test it on a track and appreciate the level of details. Anyway, here are a few examples in OO gauge the form of a Dukedog, an S15, a Drummond 700 and a Duchess. As usual, simply click on the pictures for more details.

Layouts in N gauge tend to represent larger areas than in OO gauge: due to the scale it is a lot easier to model a mainline train running in the countryside. Here are a few figures that can add life to your N gauge layouts. Simply click on the pictures for mode details.

Most kits are made of plastic. There are two secrets to building them: first, take your time. At the end of the day, this is a hobby so it is fine to waste time, but also you need time to read the instructions, dry fit the pieces and apply the glue where it has to be. The second secret is to use the right glue. We do not have the space here to describe all the glues available, however please note there is a reason we stock several plastic cement: while they all look the same, their strength is different. Also some may be able to glue various types of plastic (say ABS and PVC as well as Styrene), while other cannot. Do ask us for advice if you are unsure as to which one is right for the job. Our favourite is Plastic Magic. What is yours?

Finally, on our Facebook page this week, we show some pictures of the Lynton & Barnstaple OO9 engine from Heljan as well as a new point motor from Gaugemaster which is going to make your life easier. This is obviously alongside all the other posts with layout inspirations, modelling tips etc...

Send us an email or give us a call to check availability or to reserve anything, whatever scale you model in. As usual, if we do not have in stock what you are looking for, we will order it for you and you will get it fast (usually within a week if the manufacturer has it in stock). We place weekly orders with most suppliers.

Remember, you can park for free for one hour on the High Street. So no excuse not to come and visit us!

Upstairs Downstairs is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4.30pm, Sunday from 1pm till 4pm. We are closed only on Monday.
